Chaitra month, also known as Chaitra maas is the first month according to the traditional North Indian Hindu calendar. The second half (Shukla Paksha) of Chaitra month is celebrated as famous Navaratri. Navratri during Chaitra maas is referred as Chaitra Navratri.
Every year Chaitra Navratra is celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm at Sewak Sanjaynath Tantrik Kali Mandir. During these ten days the temple welcomes thousands of devotees from all over India. People die to take a glance of the one any only Dus Mukhi Kali idol and Kaal Kali Shiv Ling which is only established at Sewak
Sanjaynath Tantrik Kali Mandir.
Each day is worshiped for the goddesses of Dus Mahavidhya. For details watch the space at Tantrik Dus Mahavidhya Pooja of Dussehra. Following are the major and unique events during navratra at this temple.
Kalash Sthapna: Chaitra Navratri begins with Ghat Sthapana or Kalash Sthapana. Sewak Sanjaynath Tantrik Kali Mandir organizes collective Kalash Pooja for general public. In this Kalash pooja any person can send a minimal amount of Rs 200 and a Kalash is established on his/her behalf for Navratra pooja. This is a unique kind of social as well as religious activity which is only performed at Sewak Sanjaynath Tantrik Kali Mandir.
551 Kalash are established during each navaratra in the temple premisis every year.
Bhasma Aarti: Bhasma means ash. Bhasma Aarti is a major part of Maha Kaal worship. Sewak Sanjaynath Tantrik Kali mandir is the only temple in India apart from the Mahakaleshwar temple where Bhasma Aarti is performed. Before Bhasma Aarti, Shiv Snan is perfromed. Then various forms of Shiva Sringars are created. The Shiv Sringaar is different all for days. During Navratra Jagatguru Vamacharya Sewak Sanjaynath himself perform the Bhasma Aarti. This is a very fortunate and blissful moment for all devotees. Every day during Navratra Bhasma Aarti is performed by Jagatguru at 8:00 AM and 6.00 PM and this event is open for public.
Saptami Snan: Every year during Navratra on the Seventh day Snan of Maa Kaali is organised. On this day Jagatguru Vamacharya Sewak Sanjaynath himself performs the bathing of Maa Dusmukhi Kali idol. This event goes for around 3-4 hours when Maa Kali is bathed using Milk, Curd, Honey, Water and Sakkara. After that new dress and ornaments are offered to Maa Kali. Jagatguru himself dresses Maa Kali and does all the sringaar. The temple is open for public during this exceptional event.
Ashtami Pooja: Since morning the temple is flooded with the huge number of devotees standing in the queue for Maa Kali and Lord Shiva’s darshan. Ashtami is the day when Kaal Bhairav Pooja is performed. It is said that Shakti and Shiva are the symbol of mankind. After Maa Kali’s pooja on saptami, Bhairav pooja is done by performing the holy bhairav snan using water, milk, curd, honey and shakkara. Then Sringaar is done and after that the famous bhasma aarti is performed by Jagatguru Vamacharya Sewak Sanjaynath.
After Ashtami Pooja Jagatguru Vamacharya gives Kasht Nivaran Jyot to the devotees. People suffering from various diseases and problems take this Jyot and keep it lightening for the whole Ashtami night at their houses.
Navami Pooja: The Ninth day of Navaratra is a very special day at Sewak Sanjaynath Tantrik Kali Mandir. Following are the events which go hand in hand on Navami at this temple.
1. Sadhna Grih open for public darshan.
2. 56 bhog offering.
3. Hawan in Akahand kund for public.
4. Kalash Visarjan
5. Kuwari Poojan
6. Bhandara (Feast) for all devotees and city residents.
Sadhna Grih of Peethadhish Sewak Sanjaynath is opened for public. The Sadhna Grih is the place where the famous tantrik Sewak Sanjaynath performs his daily Sadhna. Sadhna Grih is having an idol of Maa Dakshin Kali. The sadhna grih opens only on four auspicious days through out a year. Navami of Navaratra is amongsts those auspicious days. After Navami sadhna grih is opened only on Shivaratri for the masses.
Also the Akhand Hawan Kund is open for public to perform Holy Hawan. This akhand hawan is lightening since year 1995.
56 types of Bhog is offered to Maa Dakshin Kali.
After that devotees who had established their Kalash can perform Hawan at the Akhand Hawan kund. Those people who have established Kalash from outstation places,get the hawan performed by temple priests on their behalf. This event starts by afternoon around 2:30 PM.
After Hawan the activity of Kalash Visarjan starts.
By evening 6:30 the Kuwari Poojan starts. In this event three small girls are dressed like godesses Kali, MahaLaxmi and Saraswati. Then Jagatguru himself touch their feets and feed them the bhog. These small girls are treated as the symbols of godesses Kali, Maha Laxmi and Maa Sarawati.
After the Kuwari poojan is done, the huge bhandara starts. Every year more than 10 thousand devotees and residents of Raxaul and near by areas have the privilage to take the holy prasad in the bhandara. This bhandara continues till 12AM.
After that the temple and the Sadhna Grih is closed.
